Haniwa
This thrown and altered ceramic sculpture was strongly influenced by prehistoric Japanese clay figures called Haniwa. It was fired directly in the flame of a gas kiln to push the clay to the brink of its capacity to stay intact. Most of the character and color come from this abuse.
