BFA Show

The show Stored Beacons consisted of several ceramic sculptures in a physical context created by altering the gallery space. The only natural light source was minimized and controlled by a structure of old lumber and clay mortar built into the window opening. The most prominent element of the installation was a pier-like structure that held three of the sculptures and directed the traffic flow through the space. Beginning at a wall adjacent to the entrance, it nearly spanned the gallery. It was built from large gray bricks and capped with a deck of old pine boards.  The earthy smell of the damp bricks and the resinous odor of the pine created a subtle mustiness in the room.
